Theoretical Orientation
Adopting a holistic approach toward wellness, I integrate a developmental perspective with practical techniques to collaboratively address the symptoms and goals of my clients. I have advanced training in several evidence based practices to help my clients cope and overcome current and past difficulties and concerns. For example, helping clients heal from trauma and abuse I may incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE) into the therapy process. Working with clients overcoming addictions, I utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Relapse Prevention. Clients managing chronic medical conditions or intense depression, grief, or anxiety often benefit from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness strategies. To develop and strengthen relationships, I coach couples on the principles and skills developed from PREP, Emotion Focused Therapy and by Gottman’s work.
